"Sometimes the deepest truth is found in fiction"

About Burt
As a child, Burt Jude Lancon often worried about the transience of human existence. He wanted to do something that would put his name in the history books, ensuring that he would never be forgotten. Now, Burt finds his name in many history books and on the cover of his first novel, He Goes by A.J.
Originally from Morgan City, Louisiana, Burt found success as a nationally ranked pairs roller skater as a young boy. His family moved to Houston, Texas, where he switched to ice figure skating in his senior year of high school to achieve his goal of earning a birth on the US Olympic Team. The same month after graduating high school, he moved to California, where he found a skating partner and a World and Olympic coach. In the next few months, Burt competed in the World Junior Championships, followed by four consecutive years on the United States World Figure Skating Team. In 1984, he achieved his ultimate goal of becoming an Olympian. In 1997, he and his skating partner won the World Professional Championships.
Burt's competitive years ended, and he went on tour with Ice Capades. He moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he landed a prestigious job at the Stardust Hotel and Casino, performing in the world-famous Lido de Paris show, and later starred in Enter the Night.
At 55, Burt began the craft of writing. For years, Burt enjoyed the sound of applause as he told stories through the art of skating. Now, Burt finds his storytelling has led to published short stories, poems, and his first novel, He Goes by A.J.
Burt and his family reside in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rob Wozny, Author
“With brilliant descriptors and cleverly crafted scene-setting, Burt Jude Lancon does an exceptional job of making the reader feel as if they were Attie, experiencing every turbulent high and every tumultuous low. Call Me A.J. will have you wanting more while challenging your humanity and humility that any one of us, at any time, could just as easily be in Attie’s position if not for the indiscriminate circumstance of good luck and geography. A fascinating read!”

Andrew Dutfield, Past President
A book I couldn’t put down! Burt Jude Lançon’s novel was, at times, emotionally difficult to read. Attie’s journey was authentic and raw. Something that really resonated with me, and felt reflective of many folk’s life experiences in our current times. Seldom have I been left so reflective at an end of a book.

Carman Nedohin, Entrepreneur
"Burt Jude Lancon has the rare ability to get inside the heart, mind and soul of his characters. From the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, a story of human frailty, loss, and determination. Through vivid descriptions, Burt Jude Lancon invites us to delve into the life of the main character, A.J. and dares us to look away when the reality becomes too uncomfortable. This novel is a page turner. It is impossible to put down."
